Seminar on Resolving NEC (New Engineering Contract) Disputes in Hong Kong

Programme Highlights:-
New Engineering Contract (NEC) has been highly promoted by and adopted in the HKSAR Government as form of works contract.  While the Development Bureau (DEVB)’s Additional Conditions of Contract applicable to these works contract varies the original dispute resolution mechanism under the UK NEC form of contract into more resemblance to the provisions as in the Government’s General Condition of Contract (GCC), this seminar attempts to first introduce the two mechanisms and then look at various differences in approaches and results between them in a comparative manner in order to promote the knowledge base and thoughts for current and future undertakers on NEC form of contract in Hong Kong.

Speaker
Dr CHEE Wai Hung Simon is by profession an Architect, Authorised Person, Arbitrator, Adjudicator, Mediator, Dispute Resolution Advisor / Dispute Avoidance and Resolution Advisor (on Housing and ArchSD Projects), and an expert witness.  He acquired the MAArbDR, LLM(Dist) and Doctor in Juridical Science, and gives lectures at the University of Hong Kong, the HK Polytechnic University, the HK City University and the HK Construction Institute (on NEC and construction ADR topics).  He is the founder / President of the Hong Kong Construction Arbitration Centre, Limited (HKCAC) inaugurated in 2006 and the Chairman of the HKIA Contract and Dispute Resolution Committee. He is currently a Professor (law) of the Department of Building and Environment of the HKPolyU Spring classes for undergrad and post-grad programmes.

The seminar is free of charge with maximum of participants of 80.  A fee of HK$ 50 is required to pay at the door for joining the “wine tasting” session after the seminar at around 20:00.  For registration, please printout the document with your personal information and send to HKCAC Honorary Secretary, Ir.
