Programme Highlights

Quality lift maintenance work is pivotal to the comfort and safety of countless high-rise building users. To establish a standard set of key performance indicators (KPIs) for lift maintenance services, a PolyU - BSOMES joint research project was conducted. The project’s Principal Investigator, Ir Prof Joseph Lai, will share in this seminar the study process and findings, including the identification of applicable performance indicators, categorization and derivation of the identified indicators, how the indicators were shortlisted to become KPIs, the steps taken to validate the application of the KPIs, and the validation result.

Ir Prof Joseph Lai

With a first-class honours degree in building services engineering, a master degree in environmental management and a PhD in facilities management (FM), Ir Prof Joseph Lai combines professional and academic roles as an FM scholar. Over the years, Ir Prof Lai has received various awards including the Distinguished Educator Award of the International Facility Management Association. Being an Associate Head of the Department of Building Environment and Energy Engineering of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), Ir Prof Lai also serves as Co-Editor of the Facilities journal and Associate Editor of the Smart and Sustainable Built Environment journal. Besides delivering training courses and consultancy services, Ir Prof Lai has served on the committees of various professional/public bodies. He is a Fellow Member of BSOMES, CIBSE, HKIE and HKIFM.
