All participants will be guided to visit their production lines. After the plant tour, there will be an opportunity for members to exchange ideas and share experience with the manufacturer.

A technical visit to German Pool’s production plant, jointly organized by AMC, EV Division and CIPHE, was held on 26 August 2017. More than 50 members participated in the event. Dr. Edward KM CHAN, founder of German Pool Hong Kong Limited (GP), welcomed the visit participants and gave a brief introduction on the history of GP and its business diversification over the years.

In 1982, GP introduced its first generation of storage water heater. Nowadays, besides producing instantaneous electric and gas water heaters, and solar water heating systems, GP has diversified its business into horizontal products by developing a variety of home appliances and kitchen cabinets. Dr. CHAN shared with the visit participants the business strategies of GP – producing high efficiency and high quality products, developing safer and more environmental friendly products, innovative ideas, reasonable price level, strategic marketing and sales promotion management.

The latest technological development of water heater emphasizes on high efficiency and safety. By adopting smart control heating system and pressurization technology, water consumption rate can be reduced to 3.5 liters per minute without sacrificing comfort for taking a shower. Participants were invited to feel the water pressure from showerhead at water consumption rate of 3.5 liters per minutes. For safety issue, a 5-Tier safety device (automatic thermostatic control, thermal cut-out, temperature relief valve, pressure relief valve and anti-back syphon device) and special grade stainless steel (grade 444 - good ductility, toughness, and good pitting resistance) inner tank are adopted in the latest model of water heaters. Dr. CHAN also shared the requirements on safety and control devices in accordance with BS 6283 and BS EN 1490 with the participants.

Finally, a visit to the production lines of electric heaters and kitchen cabinets was arranged for the visit participants. Participants were attracted by intriguing processes, such as filling heaters with special insulation materials, welding inner tank by robot and treatment of door surface by vacuum suction, etc.
