Public transport is an essential
service in moving the community, even in times of pandemics, to provide access
for essential personnel to reach their destinations safely. As one of the sectors
significantly affected by the Coronavirus Disease-2019 outbreak, MTR therefore
has to maintain the operations through this challenging time while containing
the health and hygiene risk. The Speaker will introduce how MTR responds to the
COVID-19 pandemic crisis through preparedness, quick response actions,
innovation and good practice sharing. He will highlight the substantial changes
made to manage their organisations and serve the customers in this
unprecedented rapidly evolving and uncertain environment. The Speaker will also
share lessons learned from their Infectious Disease Business Continuity Plan
and how they plan for post crisis business resumption.

Ir Prof. Vincent Ho, Head of Corporate
Safety of MTR Corporation With an average weekday patronage of about 5.9
million passengers in Hong Kong, MTR is regarded as one of the world's leading
railway operators for safety, reliability, customer service and cost efficiency.
MTR Corporation also actively involves in the development and
management of residential and
commercial projects above stations and along the ailway, as well as other
commercial activities associated with the railway. MTR Corporation operates
rail operations in UK, Sweden, Australia, and Mainland China, serving over 7.2
million passengers daily. Vincent is responsible for setting safety policy,
strategy, standards and requirements for the Corporation and managing systems
in safety governance, health and hygiene, and crisis management. He is the
chairman of the MTR Corporate Health & Hygiene Committee leading the
response action plans for infectious diseases.
Ir Prof Ho is a career risk management
and safety professional with 35 years of experience in transportation, nuclear,
and defence industries specializing in probabilistic risk assessment, fire risk
assessment, system safety and assurance, enterprise risk management, as well as
security analysis. Vincent actively promotes the applications of risk management
in enhancing safety. He is the Founding hairman of the Hong Kong Association of
Risk Management and Safety and the Immediate Past President of the Institution
of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). Vincent holds BS, MS, PhD, and MBA
from the University of California, Los Angeles. He is an Adjunct Professor
teaching risk management and safety in Hong Kong.
