A
bachelor's degree in engineering from a HKIE accredited programme is an
essential steppingstone for working towards a Chartered Engineer status. In
order to facilitate continuous professional development of sub-degree graduates
in engineering and mature technical professionals, PolyU SPEED offers several
HKIE accredited engineering top-up degree programmes in part-time mode. BEng
(Hons) in Mechanical Engineering is one of those programmes. The graduates from
PolyU SPEED Mechanical Engineering programme are eligible to undergo ‘Scheme A
Graduate training’ in 5 disciplines: Mechanical; Building Services; Aircraft;
Gas; and Control, Automation & Instrumentation.
In
this webinar, an introduction to the PolyU SPEED Mechanical Engineering top-up
degree programme is given. The career paths and job prospects for Mechanical
Engineering graduates are highlighted. Programme admission requirement for
sub-degree graduates and mature learners are explained. The subject-based
registration option to enhance knowledge in core areas of engineering is also
explained. The subject-based registration option is an avenue for those who want
to satisfy minimum core academic area requirements before applying for HKIE
professional assessment. PolyU SPEED is committed for providing second chance
for mature and middle-level engineering professionals to upgrade their careers.

Ir Dr Udaya
Kahangamage, Programme Leader, PolyU SPEED Mechanical Engineering Programme;
BSc, PhD, CEng, MIMechE, MHKIE
Udaya received his PhD in
Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bristol, UK. He has been teaching
in mechanical engineering over 20yrs in Hong Kong and overseas universities.
Currently, Udaya is serving as the Programme Leader of BEng (Hons) in
Mechanical Engineering programme at PolyU SPEED. He is a Chartered Engineer and
a Member of IMechE and HKIE.
Dr Antony Lam,
Assistant Programme Leader, PolyU SPEED Mechanical Engineering Programme; MPhil, PgDipEd, PhD
Antony received his BSc,
MPhil, PgDipEd from the University of Hong Kong and his PhD in Mechanical
Engineering from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He has acquired rich
teaching experience as a teacher in a HK Secondary School, and as a lecturer in
PolyU HKCC and SPEED. Currently he is the Programme Leader of Higher Diploma in
Aircraft Services Engineering – HKCC and Assistant Programme Leader of BEng
(Hons) in Mechanical Engineering programme at PolyU SPEED.
